Graffiti Fan Art
February 25th, 2008

Martin Spiers, from the UK, has taken the art of "Insanely Twisted Rabbits" to a whole new scale. Here's the email he just sent me:

Dear Michel,

Here is some fan art for you. It was spray painted with spray cans. I started it in December, but due to bad weather here in the UK, "rain, fog, snow, hail stones", I finished it today. I hope it puts a smile on your face.

All the best,

Martin Spiers

A New Search Engine
February 18th, 2008

I'm happy as a clam! I finally figured out how to integrate a search engine within my website (see right panel). I'm using the one offered by Google and it works extremely well. I have well over five thousands html pages on my website so it's great to have a tool to access all that data.

Just for fun, I tried doing a few searches such as "Prelude to Eden", "Insanely Twisted Rabbits", "Andrew Scott", "Paintings", "Sculptures", and was surprised by how much stuff came up.

New Piece for Nemi Magazine
February 12th, 2008

I guess the editor of Norway's popular Nemi Magazine were happy with the illustration I did for them over a year ago because last week, they commissioned another one. The theme, this time around, was "Bees"!

The Art of Making Pixar's Ratatouille
February 4th, 2008

Here's an email I received a few days ago. I thought I'd share it here.

-------------------
Friends and Colleagues:

Brad Bird’s highly anticipated second effort for Pixar, Ratatouille, opened wide on June 29, 2007 and was immediately embraced by kids, parents and moviegoers alike as one of the best films of the year. The film not only offered the finest in computer-rendered animation but also featured a rather innovative screenplay. That original screenplay and the film as an animated feature were both recently nominated for Academy Awards®.

The Art of Making Pixar's Ratatouille is an online article that covers the film.

It also features three full length interviews: one with the film's director and writer Brad Bird, production designer Harley Jessup and director of photography/lighting Sharon Calahan.

The article and interviews include exclusive art from Disney/Pixar that include the storyboards from the famous fixing the soup scene and concept art from Michel Gagné.
